A special yoga and wellness session was conducted on 28 August 2026 for women residing in the hostel at Pallava Industry. The session was designed to promote physical strength, flexibility, relaxation and better sleep among the participants.
The programme introduced simple and practical yogic techniques that can be incorporated into the participants' daily routine, particularly considering their work schedules and the need for adequate physical and mental relaxation.
The participants were introduced to the 14-step Chandra Namaskara sequence. Dr. G. Mahalakshmi explained and demonstrated each step carefully, and the participants followed the movements under guidance.
The session highlighted how regular practice can support:
Whole-body mobility and flexibility
Muscular strength and endurance
Coordination and balance
Controlled breathing
Relaxation and body awareness
Participants were encouraged to practice the sequence regularly according to their individual comfort and physical capacity.
B. Bhramari Pranayama
The second component of the session focused on Bhramari Pranayama, commonly known as the humming-bee breathing practice.
The technique was demonstrated step-by-step, with emphasis on slow, comfortable breathing and relaxation. Participants were encouraged to use the practice as part of a calming bedtime routine.
The session explained that relaxation practices such as Bhramari may help reduce mental tension and promote a calm state that is conducive to healthy sleep.
