Action for Community Transformation India Foundation Trust strengthens marginalized communities through inclusive education, health, dignity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Action for Community Transformation India Foundation Trust (ACT India Foundation) is a non-profit organization established in 1995, committed to empowering tribal, rural, and marginalized communities through rights-based development, education, environmental justice, and sustainable livelihoods. We work with a strong focus on women, children, indigenous communities, and populations affected by systemic inequalities. Our work is vital in enabling communities to access their rights, live with dignity, and build resilient and sustainable futures. ACT India Foundation leads impactful initiatives in tribal rights, environmental conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable agriculture, education, public health, and livelihood promotion. We work closely with cotton-growing communities, farmers, textile workers, and vulnerable populations to promote climate-resilient practices, circular economy approaches, and environmentally sustainable livelihoods. Our interventions also address pressing social issues such as child marriage, workplace harassment, gender-based violence, and unequal access to quality education and healthcare. Over the past three decades, we have created meaningful change across Tamil Nadu. More than 9,486 tribal individuals across 15 districts have secured entitlements under the Forest Rights Act. Hundreds of rural children have gained access to digital and STEM education, while thousands of women have been empowered through awareness on the POSH Act, gender justice, menstrual health, and personal safety. We also promote workplace dignity, preventive health, menstrual health, and eco-friendly solutions by supporting textile workers and advancing sustainable products and practices. Through partnerships with communities, institutions, and stakeholders, ACT India Foundation is building inclusive, climate-resilient, and equitable communities for future generations.

We dedicated to protecting children's rights and promoting their overall development. Through this summer camp, we aim to raise awareness about the harmful effects of child marriage, educate children and communities about the importance of education and legal rights, and encourage a safe and empowered future for every child.
ACT India Foundation successfully organized the International Women's Day Celebration 2026 on 8 March 2026 at Vedasandur, bringing together key stakeholders from the textile and garment sector, government departments, and community institutions to celebrate women's leadership, rights, and collective action. Theme: Celebrating Women's Leadership, Equality, Safety, and Collective Action for Sustainable Communities. The event served as a multi-stakeholder platform to recognize the contributions of women while strengthening partnerships for safer, healthier, and more inclusive workplaces and communities. A total of 125 participants attended the celebration, including representatives from textile and garment mill Human Resources (HR) departments, Government Medical Officials, Social Welfare Department representatives, Internal Committee (IC) members, women's groups, ACT India Foundation staff, and volunteers. The programme featured awareness sessions, community engagement activities, and a collective pledge promoting gender equality, dignity, safety, and empowerment of women in workplaces and society. The celebration highlighted the importance of collaboration among industries, government agencies, and civil society organizations in advancing women's rights and creating supportive environments for women workers and adolescent girls. Through this event, ACT India Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women, strengthening institutional partnerships, and building resilient communities through education, awareness, leadership development, and sustainable social action.
We committed to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. Through the International Women’s Day celebration, we aim to recognize and honor the achievements of women, raise awareness about their rights, and inspire communities to create an inclusive and equitable society for all.
