ACT India Foundation works extensively with women employed in spinning mills and garment factories to promote fair labour practices, safe workplaces, and gender justice. The programme empowers women workers by increasing awareness of workplace rights, occupational safety, prevention of harassment, and access to social protection schemes, including Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Employees’ State Insurance (ESI), maternity benefits, and other statutory entitlements.
The initiative strengthens worker collectives, community support groups, and local leadership structures to support women facing exploitation, discrimination, coercive labour practices, and workplace vulnerabilities. Particular attention is given to migrant, Dalit, and tribal women, who often experience multiple forms of social and economic disadvantage.
Through legal literacy, advocacy, leadership development, community mobilisation, and rights-based awareness programmes, ACT India Foundation enables women workers to raise their voices, exercise their rights, and actively contribute to creating safer, more equitable, and dignified work environments within the textile and garment sector.
