Women’s Health, Safety and Dignity Initiative for Textile and Garment Workers in Tamilnadu
ACT India Foundation implements this programme to strengthen the health, safety, rights, and dignity of women employed in the textile and garment sector. The initiative addresses critical issues such as gender-based violence, menstrual health and hygiene, and sexual and reproductive health rights through a comprehensive, community-based approach. The programme focuses on workplace sensitization, strengthening Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs), establishing community support systems, and delivering continuous awareness and capacity-building sessions. It also promotes leadership development, counselling, life skills, and economic empowerment to enhance women’s confidence, resilience, and overall well-being. By empowering textile women workers and adolescent girls, the programme contributes to safer workplaces, effective grievance redressal mechanisms, improved health outcomes, and more equitable and resilient communities across rural Dindigul.
