ACT India Foundation promotes Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) among disadvantaged rural communities by creating opportunities for experiential learning, scientific curiosity, and disaster preparedness. Our programmes focus on building scientific temper, strengthening community resilience, and equipping young people with practical skills for the future.
As part of our Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives, we have successfully conducted Amateur (HAM) Radio Operator training, examination preparation, and licensing support programmes for 35 Red Cross government school teachers, 32 Master of Social Work (MSW) students, and youth entrepreneurs. The initiative strengthens emergency communication capacities and develops a network of trained volunteers capable of supporting communities during disasters and emergencies.
ACT India Foundation also promotes astronomy education through 10 Astro Angel Clubs established across Dindigul District. The programme has engaged more than 300 rural school girls through basic astronomy education, sky observation sessions, hands-on science activities, creative arts, and experiential learning opportunities. Participants have also benefited from educational exposure visits to the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory, inspiring greater interest in science, technology, and scientific careers.
By integrating science education, disaster preparedness, creativity, and hands-on learning, ACT India Foundation is nurturing a new generation of scientifically aware, confident, and future-ready young leaders from underserved communities in rural Tamil Nadu.
